You can call me the wine stalker for now. As we go out and about on a sunny Sunday afternoon in a little town called Alameda. Just about 15 miles off San Francisco-across the Bay Bridge.
If a restaurant got a hole in the wall blurb, this is the Rock Wall of the town’s bar scenery. Needless to say a Wine Bar at the nook of the Naval Base in Alameda. Who would have thought that this exists? Yes! It is the Rock Wall Wine Company.
The temperature snaps like the pop from the vino cork. A cozy –chilln’ place to be on a lazy afternoon. What adds up to that is, of course, great selections of vinos, and a breathtaking view of the San Francisco skyline and the Bay Bridge.
My selection at the Tasting Room that fine afternoon? I always think pink when it’s sunny and warm out. The 2015 Uncle Roget’s Grenache Rose. This wine was named after the owner’s Uncle Roger, who is often referred to as Uncle Roget (ro-zjay). He has a long-standing love affair with Paris, and subsequently a passionate romance with rose (and Cab Sauv, depending on the weather). Decadent aromas of cherry vanilla, strawberry fruit roll-up and hibiscus float up from the glass followed by flavors of strawberry shortcake, bright grapefruit, and mandarin orange.
Tidbits: Shauna Rosenblum is Winemaker for Rock Wall Wine Company. She learned everything she knows about winemaking from her father Kent Rosenblum who is CEO. Kent and Shauna Rosenblum are a father and daughter team committed to limited production winemaking geared to their tastes and sense of fun and adventure.
Rock Wall offers club membership, the Club Viva. You can customize the type of wine and how many bottles you would like to receive. A member has 6 options. Special thanks to our friend Jason who is a happy member of the club.
Would I lie to you? Experience it yourself and then what! Carpe Vinum ! Salud!
